You must always check the age of the person receiving alcohol or tobacco.
Always check their real age, no matter how old they look.

Minimum Age by Law

16 years or older:

  • Beer

  • Wine

  • Cider

  • Champagne

18 years or older:

  • All strong alcohol (spirits, liquor)

  • All tobacco and nicotine products

When to Ask for ID

Always ask for a photo ID, for example:

  • Driver’s licence

  • Passport

  • Any government ID with a photo and date of birth

If They Have No ID

If you cannot check the person’s age or the person is too young,
the order must be cancelled and taken back to the restaurant.

This is the law and helps prevent selling to minors.
